According to one of Doris' children, Doris was raised by a grandmother because her mother Beulah had to work.  Doris' husbend, Phillip, was born on March 22, 1920.  Doris died on August 25, 1989, as a result of a heart attack complicated by hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis.)  Apparently her husband Phillip is alive and living in Washington, DC.  At this time there are eighteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  Of the children, Barbara T. Bender Florimbio was born in 1939, Michael J. Bender on June 24, year unknown, Doris Ann Bender McDonald, born in 1952, is married to Steven McDonald, Mary Elizabeth Bender Siddons, born in 1953, is married to William Siddons Jr., and Karen Marie Bender was born on May 18, 1959.  We do not have birthdays for the other living children.  Phillip F. Bender Jr., birthday unknown, died at the age of 21, and Karen M. Bender died as an infant on May 25, 1959.  We also learned that Phillip F. Bender Jr. is still living in a house he built for Doris in 1950 in Seabrook, Maryland.
